Prantik Kundu, PhD
For over 15 years, Dr. Prantik Kundu, PhD has been at the intersection of biophysics and neuroscience and at the cutting edge of neuroimaging. Dr. Kundu received his Ph.D. in Psychiatry from the University of Cambridge through the prestigious NIH-Cambridge Scholars Program. He then joined as Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Dr. Kundu was then recruited to Hyperfine Research, Inc. where he was co-inventor of the world’s first portable bedside MRI, capable of deployment around the world and in any environment. There, he held leadership roles in the areas of automated diagnosis in stroke using artificial intelligence (AI), edge computing, and producing the first patented commercial and FDA-approved deep learning reconstruction system for portable low-field MRI (0.064 T).
Dr. Kundu has authored over 50 major papers in the areas of imaging methodology and applications in characterizing neurobiology of neuropsychiatric disease across disorders, using MRI systems using ultra-low to ultra-high (11.7 T) magnetic fields. In psychiatry, through his extensive network of collaborators worldwide, Dr. Kundu has made significant contributions to the understanding of neurobiology of psychiatric disease, using both clinical imaging systems and the world’s most powerful MRI scanners. At Ceretype, he aims to bring his expertise in functional neuroimaging, neurobiology, and commercial processes that are essential for translation, towards making the translation of fMRI into a high throughput research and clinical tool a reality.
